Launch: TAKE Writing, Issue 19
To mark the launch of TAKE Writing, in collaboration with the Kochi Muziris Students’ Biennale 2016, TAKE on Art organized a six-day performance art workshop, ‘re-enactment as a mode of ‘reading’. Initiating dialogue among contemporary art writers and critics, the workshop created a platform for the exchange of ideas, critique and feedback amongst peers, continuing TAKE’s investment to sustaining critical writing practices by generating discourses in which to develop conversations. The workshop was conducted by Adwait Singh, Tushar Joag, Sarojini Lewis and Nikita Maheswary with special assistance by Roobaroo Walks.
TAKE Writing
Creating communities of critics, writing histories of art criticism and mentoring young art critics summarize the ends that some of our outreach initiatives outside of the physical space of the publication have accomplished under the TAKE on Writing initiative. Over the course of several writing workshops conducted by TAKE, critics, curators and artists came together to weave memories, anecdotes and strains of theory that informed the various decades leading up to the state of art as we know it in the present. This issue is a special one that collects traces of thoughts from the workshop participants during what has been a rather exciting period for TAKE.
